Young Artists’ Competition

The Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra Young Artists’ Competition was established in 1973 by beloved Cleveland musician and CPO board member, Frieda Schumacher. It is a statewide competition, open to all vocal and instrumental students in grades 9 through 12. The winner of the competition is given the opportunity to perform as soloist with the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra on a regular subscription concert. Pianist Katrina Bobbs was selected as the winner last year from among fourteen exceptional student soloists for her performance of the Ravel Piano Concerto in G major.  The 2008 competition will be held on Sunday, February 3rd in the Tri-C Metropolitan Campus Auditorium..

We're proud to offer this competition each year as an opportunity for gifted young musicians to gain performance experience. We extend our congratulations and best wishes to all the students who will participate this year.
