JAVIER GONZALEZ, PIANO

Cuban-born pianist Javier Gonzalez began his music studies at the age of seven in Havana, Cuba and made his debut with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra at the age of fourteen. He has collaborated as soloist with orchestras including the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra in California, the Simon Bolivar Orchestra in Caracas, Venezuela, various orchestras in Cuba, the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra, and the Cleveland State University Orchestra.  He has received awards in several competitions in Cuba and in the U.S including the Amadeo Roldán Piano Competition, Ernesto Lecuona International Competition, Ignacio Cervantes International Competition, the Missouri Southern International Competition, and the San Francisco Conservatory Piano Concerto Competition.

Javier has been part of important festivals and music events such as Music @ Menlo (CA), the Verbier Festival (Switzerland), a concert in honor of UNESCO and former Director-General Federico Mayor Zaragoza, and a performance at the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington D.C.  Javier has been acclaimed by audiences in countries all over the world including Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Barbados, Jamaica, and the U.S.  He has recently completed his Master of Music degree at Cleveland State University under the tutelage of Dr. Angelin Chang.
