Violinist Amy King, a native of Minnesota and Michigan, studied five years at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy. While there she soloed with the Academy Orchestra numerous times and was concertmaster her final year. During her Interlochen years Amy won the Presidential Medal for performance excellence. She graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory with a degree in Violin Performance where she studied with Kathleen Winkler and Roland and Almita Vamos.
During an assistantship at Kent State University, Amy was a member of the Sartory String Quartet, finalists in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. She was twice winner of the Michigan Arts Festival, winner of Downbeat Magazine Chamber Music Competition, and received the Oberlin Conservatory Dean Talent Scholarship. While on the faculty of the Lorain County Community College, she was first violinist with the Black River String Quartet. Amy is presently concertmaster of the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra and teaches privately from her home in Elyria where she enjoys life with husband George and her two sons, Christopher and Ephrem.
